Leisure park

The main building of the Tisza Lake Ecocentre is surrounded by a leisure park of more than 7
hectares. The attractions and displays in the park have all been created in the spirit of our
motto: “Experience nature!”
Please note that the leisure park operates in harmony with the rhythm of nature, so during the
winter season – from the end of October until the beginning of April – certain attractions and
animal presentations are not available.
While strolling through the leisure park, visitors can closely observe the life and behaviour of
the resident animals. In the early afternoon, from time to time, you can watch the feeding of
cormorants and the comically charming pelicans. Exact feeding times are announced at the
Information Desk and over the public address system.
If you walk through the park with due care and attention, you may encounter many bird
species that do not belong to the Ecocentre but live in the habitats of Lake Tisza, located only
about 100 metres away, and like to visit our area during the day and in the early evening.
Among songbirds, goldfinches, hawfinches and greenfinches are frequent visitors, and you
may also spot hooded crows, grey herons, greylag geese, wild ducks or even night herons
dropping in for a short stay.

The white storks nesting on the electricity poles of Poroszló also often honour our leisure park
with their presence, primarily in the hope of finding food, and once they have eaten their fill,
they return to their nearby nests.
In summer, impressive dragonflies can be seen basking on the sunlit railings of the park’s
bridges.
Families with children are welcomed by two dry playgrounds on land and a “raft” water
playground, and within the leisure park you can also visit the Poroszló Folk House, built in
1884, with an adjacent poultry yard and rabbit yard.
